How long have you been in business?
Pig Out Publications was founded in 1988, Our first book published was the Passion of Barbeque by the Kansas City Barbeque Association. Now we offer over 200 titles on the subject of outdoor cooking, outdoor kitchens, and outdoor lifestyle.

How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Owner Karen Adler aka The BBQ Queen, has lived in Kansas City all her life. Her first memories of really good Que are of the Wagon Wheel Sandwiches served at the former Benny's BBQ on Blue Ridge Cut-Off. She became an accomplished self-taught cook when she married her husband Dick, an avid hunter. She had to learn how to cook all kinds of game. This became a passion and she now has written 20 cookbooks with 9 of the titles specializing in BBQ. Karen is a culinary teacher and also a corporate spokesperson along with running Pig Outs wholesale book business.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Pig Out's specialty is BBQ cookbooks. We write a quarterly review of the newest cookbooks on the market. We are members of Hearth Patio and Barbecue Association which caters to retail store owners who specialize in BBQ.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Our office is in Mission Kansas and our warehouse is at the Hunt Midwest Caves. Individual customers may visit us at our office. Call first at 913-789-9594
