How long have you been in business?
We have been in business since 2004
What is your primary product or service?
Our primary product is lighted post caps and deck lights. We install deck lighting and landscape lighting. We also do maintenance and repairs to lighting systems.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I first became interested in this line of business when I was building my deck. I wanted to do something different than everyone else. I bought some copper caps from Home Depot or Lowe's and put them on my posts. But they quickly dented in a small hail storm and started to lose their finish. I spoke with a friend of mine who is an artist and he showed me how to work with a local foundry to make my own caps. I made them really thick with a great powder coating. Then we put a light in them powered by low voltage. That was when "the light bulb went off in my head." We should sell these! So now we make these beautiful caps using local businesses and sell them to customers all over the country. Check out our website, www.MoonlightDecks.com, to see more innovative ideas.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I am different from others in this business because I keep nearly everything made locally. And I am just a small company, so I focus more on the customer and provide custom sizes, colors, and service.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
I only have 1 location, but I hope to expand.

My address is on my website, but I prefer to use your deck as my showroom. I will come to you and bring samples of the deck lights so you know exactly how they look and feel on your own deck.
What type of payments do you accept?
I accept cash, check, Visa, Mastercard.

I perform deck lighting and landscape lighting installations in the Kansas City area, but I also ship the deck lights anywhere in the country.
